MONTREAL - A longtime respected voice in the Montreal Alouettes dressing room, Scott Flory will now put his leadership talents to work on behalf of all CFL players. The nine-time CFL all-star offensive lineman announced his retirement Wednesday after playing 15 seasons and winning three Grey Cups in Montreal. The move was largely expected after Flory became the new president of the CFL Players Association in late March. The Regina native suffered a season-ending biceps tear July 12 in a game against the Calgary Stampeders, though he was determined to return this season if he had not won his leadership bid. "It was a decision I made when I chose to run that I told myself that if I did win that I was going to retire," Flory said at an Olympic Stadium press conference. "It was a way for me to segue out of football from the playing side of it but still stay involved with the game and being around the guys and trying to represent them. "I was committed to coming back. I was training, I was doing everything, and I believe in this club and the direction that theyre going so I wanted to be a part of it." Flory felt that he could not do justice to either job by continuing to play while heading up the players union. "I didnt want to shortchange the players or the Alouettes by trying to do both jobs at the same time," Flory said. "Over my 15-year career I committed myself wholly to being the best football player I could be and I want to do the same in my new role as president of the players association." The 37-year-old is currently participating in talks with the league on a new collective bargaining agreement, though he declined to comment on any of those issues Wednesday. "Ive been a player rep since 2002 and sometimes there needs to be a guy who is the voice of the guys, and not everybody has the ability or the strength or the desire to talk to coaches or to deal with a lot of things that players have to deal with," Flory said. "It was something I liked and I cared about and I wanted to serve the guys ... and I was elected, and Im thankful for that. But over my time in Montreal I was always a part of the players association and I believe in the players and trying to represent them the best I can." Twice the CFLs top lineman (2008 and 2009), the six-foot-four, 296-pound Flory helped Montreal to Grey Cup victories in 2002, 2009 and 2010. "When people talk about how I was able to play for so long it was because of people like Scott that took pride in protecting the quarterback," said former Alouettes quarterback Anthony Calvillo, who retired in January as pro footballs all-time passing leader with 79,816 yards. "They didnt get a lot of press, a lot of accolades, but in that locker-room when I could walk away from a game with not getting hit you could see a big smile on their face and they took a lot of pride in that, so they were able to do that for many, many years and that allowed me to play for a lot of years." Montreal selected Flory in the third round, 15th overall, in the 1998 CFL draft out of the University of Saskatchewan. He attended training camp before returning to the Huskies, helping them win the Vanier Cup that season. Alouettes tackle Josh Bourke acknowledged that losing both Calvillo and Flory to retirement will leave a leadership void in Montreal that needs to be filled. "It just means that were going to be missing two great leaders on our team, two great men," Bourke said. "Ive played a lot of football with Scott. Ive played a lot of games with him, pretty much every start Ive made in this league hes been on the field with me so Ive learned a lot the last seven years from him, how to be a man, most importantly, but how to be a great teammate, how to prepare, how to be a professional. "Guys like myself and other guys coming up the ranks, were the ones that have to kind of take over now but its going to be hard because hes been such a great leader for so long." Siddikur, who led on all four days and took a four-stroke lead going into the final day, bogeyed four out of six holes starting at the sixth and continued a forgettable last round in which he returned a three-over 75 to finish with a 14-under 274. Canadas 5-1 loss to Finland in the semifinal ranks as the tournaments most-watched game with a record 2.7 million viewers, the largest ever for a World Juniors game played outside of North America, and winning Saturday as the most-watched program on Canadian television. PITTSBURGH -- Ryan Braun homered in the ninth inning to tie it, then Khris Davis hit a home run in the 14th that put Milwaukee ahead for good. Yet those were hardly the big blows that attracted all the attention Sunday in the Brewers 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates. Brewers centre fielder Carlos Gomez, Pirates outfielder Travis Snider and Milwaukee bench coach Jerry Narron were ejected after a shouting match quickly escalated into a punch-filled brawl in the third. "Im not apologetic for anything that I did today," Gomez said. "I was just doing my job." The problems started when Gomez paused at the plate and flipped his bat to watch his two-out drive off Pirates starter Gerrit Cole. Gomez said he thought the ball would be caught. Instead, it hit the wall and he sped into third base, making a headfirst slide for a triple. Cole, who was near third base backing up the play, stormed toward Gomez and they exchanged words. Cole said he told Gomez: "If youre going to hit it out of the ballpark, then you can stop and look at it. But it youre going to hit just a fly ball to centre field, then dont stand and look at it." That didnt sit well with Gomez. He took a couple steps toward Cole and the benches and bullpens emptied. "Everything had stopped," Gomez said. "He told me something, I told him back, then I talked to the umpire. Then Snider came like a superhero, trying to throw punches at everybody. I just tried to protect myself." Milwaukees Martin Maldonado came from the dugout and threw a punch that knocked off Sniders hat. "Were a family," said Maldonado, who expects to be suspended. "I see two guys over Gomez, so I tried to protect him." Snider, who wasnt in the game, and Gomez shoved each other, and the Brewers star fell to the ground. Pirates catcher Russell Martin called Maldonados swing a "sucker punch" and had to be restrained by teammate Gaby& Sanchez as he walked off the field.dddddddddddd Last September, Gomez was in the middle of the bench-clearing brawl after arguing with Atlanta pitcher Paul Maholm while rounding the bases after homering. Milwaukee manager Ron Roenicke said he fears Gomez could develop a reputation as a guy who starts conflicts. But he said he found little fault in the way Gomez initially handled Coles challenge. "(Cole is) the one that started it all," Roenicke said. "If you start it, were going to respond. Gomeys not going to sit there and not say anything." Gomez said he planned to appeal any suspension. The Brewers won their third in a row. Pittsburgh has lost three in a row and five of six. Davis hit his first homer, connecting for a leadoff shot against Jeanmar Gomez (0-1). "It was pretty hard to see with the shadow," Davis said. Zach Duke (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings and Francisco Rodriguez got his seventh save. Cole allowed one run and six hits in a career-high eight innings, striking out six. Cole appeared to be in line for the win after Jose Tabatas eighth-inning infield single scored Ike Davis to give the Pirates a 2-1 lead. Roenicke challenged the call, but the play was upheld. Braun hit his sixth homer with one out in the ninth, giving Pittsburgh closer Jason Grilli his second blown save in as many games. Mark Reynolds hit his fifth home run, a solo drive in the Milwaukee seventh. Neil Walker homered for the Pirates in the fourth off Marco Estrada. NOTES: C Chris Stewart went 1 for 6 in his Pirates debut. He missed the start of the season after undergoing arthroscopic right knee surgery last month. ... RHP Wily Peralta (2-0, 1.96) is scheduled to pitch for the Brewers on Monday night at home against the San Diego Padres. ... Smith has spent the last three seasons with the Rockies, playing both left and right field, and has a .275 batting average with 51 homers and 181 RBIs in 487 major league games.CHICAGO -- The Chicago Bulls are showing they can score points as well as limit them. And when they do both, they can make beating even a good team look easy. Taj Gibson scored 21 points, Carlos Boozer added 15 points and 13 rebounds, and the Bulls used a big third-quarter run to win for the seventh time in eight games, pounding the Golden State Warriors 103-83 Wednesday night. Jimmy Butler scored 16 points after missing two games with bruised ribs, Mike Dunleavy Jr. added 15, and Joakim Noah grabbed 17 rebounds for Chicago. The Bulls dominated on the glass 56-41, forced 16 turnovers and held All-Star Stephen Curry in check while bringing Golden States four-game win streak to an emphatic end. "I thought we were playing well before the break, and as a group, we talked about continuing to keep it going after the break," Boozer said. "Nows the time to step on the gas pedal and really get ready for the playoffs." The Bulls hit the 100-point mark for the third time in four games and shut down a high-scoring team in the process. Jordan Crawford scored 16 points, but it was a rough night for the Warriors even though David Lee returned to the rotation. He came off the bench to score 11 points in 20 minutes after being hospitalized with a stomach flu and missing two games. "Timing was a little off," Lee said. "I was definitely more winded quicker than I would have been. Twenty minutes felt like about 55 minutes tonight on the court, but that usually is going to happen the first game back. Im glad I got that under my belt and Im ready for the next one." Curry, meanwhile, tied a season low with five points on 2-of-10 shooting with Kirk Hinrich guarding him and the Warriors never found a rhythm. "He always seems to keep a hand on you and never really gives a beat when his help isnt there," Curry said. "Hes very consistent at funneling you where they want you to go. Tonight it was even difficult to get him off-balance and going the opposite way. They made adjustments from the first game (a home win over the Bulls on Feb. 6), and we were just a step slow on making our adjustments iin the game.dddddddddddd They just outplayed us from start to finish." The Warriors trailed by 11 at the half and were within eight in the third quarter when things got out of hand. Dunleavy blocked Andre Iguodalas layup with 7:33 left to send the Bulls were on their way. Hinrich converted a three-point play, igniting a 14-2 run that sealed this one for Chicago. Butler stole a pass by Lee, leading to a layup for Boozer, and scored on a putback that made it 66-51 with 5:52 remaining. After Dunleavy hit a free throw, Boozer capped the run with three straight baskets -- a 15-footer, a short jumper and a 13-foot bank shot -- that bumped Chicagos lead to 73-53 with 3:20 to go in the quarter. Afterward, Hinrichs defence against one of the leagues top scorers drew heavy praise. Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau acknowledged Curry missed a few shots he normally makes but was quick to praise his veteran guard. "You never can measure his true value if you go by statistics," Thibodeau said. "If you go by what he is doing for your team, setting the tone for the defence with his ball pressure, his hustle plays, first to the floor, running your team -- the things he does, it really ignites and inspires your team. And he plays to win. I think that its never lost on his teammates, and its certainly not lost on the coaches or the organization." NOTES: Bulls star Derrick Rose has started running as he tries to work his way back from another season-ending knee injury, although Thibodeau said a return to practice remains a long way off. "Nowhere close to practicing," he said. "Hes doing some running. Hes off the treadmill. Still on it at some times, but his full weight now, and doing lateral slides and things like that. Nowhere near practicing or anything like that." He also reiterated that Rose will not return this season. ... Warriors coach Mark Jackson praised Thibodeau, who was an assistant to Jeff Van Gundy when Jackson played for the New York Knicks. "He was a guy you knew was going to be a very good coach," Jackson said. "Worked his tail off and was committed to his craft. Im very happy for him."   Sabres was likely. He just did
Posted by: lw789 - 43 minutes ago - Forum: Konsultasi dokter spesialis - No Replies

NEW YORK -- Thomas Vanek knew a trade from the Buffalo Sabres was likely. He just didnt expect to be shipped off to the New York Islanders this early in the season. From one rebuild to another for the prolific goal scorer. Vanek joined the Islanders on Monday morning just hours after the deal that sent him to Long Island for forward Matt Moulson and a pair of draft picks. Vanek and Moulson, who are both 29, can become unrestricted free agents after this season. Vanek, who has four goals and five assists this season, has scored 40 goals twice and was an All-Star in 2009. Moulson had six goals and three assists in 11 games with New York this season. He has 124 goals and 109 assists in 333 games in seven seasons with the Los Angeles Kings and the Islanders. New York general manager Garth Snow declined to say how long the teams talked before the trade. "You have to give up something to get something, and Matt was an excellent player for us the last four years," Snow said. "You have to sacrifice in certain areas to make additions in others. I think thats pretty self-explanatory, and I wish Matt nothing but the best moving forward." The Sabres own the worst record in the NHL and are clearly looking to the future as they continue to sell off veteran parts for building blocks. Vanek was unlikely to return to Buffalo, and was a prime candidate to be sent packing. "I knew it was going to happen sooner or later with the situation in Buffalo," Vanek said. "But when it does happen, initially its a shock. Im excited to come here. Great young team, up-tempo style. Im looking forward to it." Vanek said he didnt sleep Sunday night after being told about the trade. He practiced with the Islanders on Monday morning, taking Moulsons spot on the top line alongside captain John Tavares and fellow forward Kyle Okposo. The Islanders took a risk with the trade, hoping that in the time Vanek spends with his new team he can convinced to make a long-term commitment to stay. No negotiations have started yet, and no conditions regarding Vanek sticking with the Islanders were included in the trade. "I havent gotten that far," Vanek said. "I didnt sleep at all last night, so I want to catch some sleep first, get to know these guys, and figure it out later." Vanek saw the writing on the wall with the Sabres, who dealt Jason Pominville last season, changed coaches, and also could trade away veteran goalie Ryan Miller this season. Buffalo had four teenagers in its lineup for its last game and appear a long way off from competing for a championship. The Islanders returned to the playoffs last season after five years on the outside. New York was knocked out in the first round by Pittsburgh, but showed signs of being on the upswing. With an eye toward Brooklyn, where the Islanders will move in two years, the club is trying to make strides toward greater improvement leading up to that relocation. If Vanek can mesh with the young Tavares as well as Moulson did in recent years, and then sign a new deal, the Islanders would have a potent punch up front. "I want to win," he said. "You train all summer long, practice every day, and you want to have a chance. Right now you know that we struggled (in Buffalo). Its hard to win when you do struggle, especially as one of the leaders, but at the same time reality is setting in and Im happy to be an Islander." Moulson played a key role in the on-ice development of Tavares, who was chosen No. 1 by the Islanders in the 2009 draft. They also were close friends off the ice. "Hes been there for all the success Ive had," the 23-year-old Tavares said. "The little things he does that have helped my game, we were door-to-door neighbours my second year. How long weve known each other. The impact that he made, he and his family, how much they helped me off the ice. Words cant really describe how much he was there for me. "Its part of the game, part of the business, you understand that. Im sad to see him go, but its what the team thought was best. We have to go forward now, starting tomorrow." The Islanders will welcome the New York Rangers on Tuesday night, which will mark Vaneks debut with the team. Islanders coach Jack Capuano didnt have much advance notice of the deal, but once it was made he quickly decided that Vanek would join the top line. "Anytime you trade a top player for a top player, thats where hes got to go," Capuano said. "Hes very skilled, and hes good with the puck. He shoots the puck really well. Hes got good size so, hell start with Johnny and Kyle and well see where that plays out." If it works well, the Islanders hope that comfort zone and a familiarity with New York forward Michael Grabner -- a fellow Austrian -- will make the difference once contract talks begin in earnest. "We havent even had those conversations," Snow said. "Our focus has been to acquire Thomas and get him on a flight here, and get him situated and comfortable and get him ready for todays practice and tomorrows game. "Hes a high-end talent. An All-Star calibre player, big body. He can skate and obviously score goals at an elite level, hes a high-calibre person off the ice, so for us, were getting a great addition to our team." Here at TSN.ca we will take a look back at the season by bringing together a panel of experts to help pick the best 50 players of the season.Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - It is now time for the 2015 edition of the Vince McMahon No Chance All-Stars, a showcase for those enjoying great seasons, yet not great enough to merit honest consideration for a roster spot in the NBA All-Star Game. The rules are simple. For the sake of the column, we will assume the starting lineups, as voted (and pretty well must I say) by the fans remains. The conference coaches vote for the reserves with the formula of two backcourt players, three frontcourt players and two wild-card, any-position players. These players selected in this column are not under real consideration for a spot on their respective conferences All-Star team. The reasons vary as does their closeness to making the actual game in New York. Most of these gentlemen miss out on a spot because of how the real All-Stars are chosen. Winning teams send more players to the game, thus, this list comprises quite a few names from losing teams. The other type of player is the slightly better than a role player for a great team. Anyway, the 14 men mentioned below represent the 2015 Vince McMahon No Chance All-Stars. WESTERN CONFERENCE NO CHANCE BACKCOURT TY LAWSON, Denver Nuggets; TYREKE EVANS, New Orleans Pelicans Lawson shares the NBA lead in assists at 10 per game. Hes scoring 17.0 points per game, which is less than a point off his career-best campaign. Lawsons sin is two-fold. First, the Nuggets stink. Theres no way to justify a roster spot for a Denver player unless that statistical season was frightening. Ten assists a night is awesome, but not enough. Secondly, think very quickly about the Western Conference backcourt situation. Did you do it? There are going to be guards out west who dont make the team with better cases than Lawson. Thats why I created this. Evans scoring is up almost three points per game and hes done a lot of heavy lifting while Anthony Davis, Jrue Holiday and Eric Gordon have all missed time. Evans has played the hybrid role to perfection for a team in legitimate position to make the playoffs. He is fifth in assists among non-point guards and the four chaps ahead of him are all going to Madison Square Garden. WESTERN CONFERENCE NO CHANCE FRONTCOURT DEANDRE JORDAN, Los Angeles Clippers; DRAYMOND GREEN, Golden State Warriors; GORDON HAYWARD, Utah Jazz Do you know who leads the NBA in rebounding? Do you know who leads the NBA in field-goal percentage? Do you know who is second in the NBA in blocked shots? Same guy - DeAndre Jordan. Those are ridiculous rankings and the numbers are insane as well. Rebounding - 13.4 per game. Field-goal percentage - 72.1 percent. Blocked shots - 2.36 per game. And, for you analytics nerds, Jordan is the only player in the top 10 in both offensive and defensive rating. Massive, massive production. However, for all of these tremendous numbers, the Clippers are just 18th in opponents scoring and 20th in opponents field-goal percentage. So Jordan is the anchor of the defense, but its just not a great defense. The Clippers are getting two All-Stars and three is too many for the sixth-best team in the Western Conference, thus costing Jordan a spot. If Green made the actual roster, his inclusion would give me the most delight. Hes the epitome of what the All-Star game should be showcasing. Green is a team winner. His all-around game and emergence has allowed the Warriors to do different things than seasons past, namely on the defensive side. Greens length, size and athleticism make switching so easy for Golden State. Green is first in the league in defensive rating and defensive win shares. His stat line is impressive, while not overwhelming - 11.5 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocked shots per game. The Warriors are the best team, so lets get as many as we can into the game. Haywards Jazz arent good, but theyre inching there. Hayward upped his scoring average to 19 ppg this season. His other numbers are down a bit, but all shooting percentages climbed from last season. Hayward has become one of the best offensive small forwards in a league dominated by great wing players. WESTERN CONFERENCE NO CHANCE WILD CARDS DERRICK FAVORS, Utah Jazz; TREVOR ARIZA, Houston Rockets A wonderful month of January gave Favors one of these final spots. In his last eight games, Favors is averaging nearly 16.3 ppg and 10.3 rpg while shooting 55.6 percent from the floor. He is one of nine players averaging at least 16 ppg and 8.5 rpg. Favors isnt quite there yet, but his major big-man stats (scoring, rebounding, field-goal percentage) are all trending up for the third consecutive season. Arizas production has tailed off as the season has progressed, but the Rockets were 23rd in opponents scoring last season and are now 11th. Ariza is a stud defender and he gets the most credit for Houstons improvement on that side of the ball. His offensive numbers have declined some this season, but thats expected when you play with The Beard and Superman. Ariza is an impact guy. Hes exactly what Im looking for in a No Chance All-Star. EEASTERN CONFERENCE NO CHANCE BACKCOURT KEMBA WALKER, Charlotte Hornets; KYLE KORVER, Atlanta Hawks Walker was the impetus for this column three years ago.dddddddddddd Hes closest to making the All-Star team as hes ever been. Walker averages 19.2 ppg and 5.4 apg. His scoring is up from last season when the Hornets were a playoff team and his assists are down. Walkers doing a lot to remind the coaches about his worth. Over his last six games, Walker has averaged 29.8 ppg and Charlotte has gone 5-1. Korver has by far the most interesting case for this All-Star team. Can he ride the Atlanta Hawks wave to Madison Square Garden? The Detroit Pistons sent four players when they were dominant earlier this century and other teams didnt offer much potential candidates. Will the Hawks? (Yes, spoiler alert, I think the Hawks get three All-Star nods). Korver leads the NBA in 3-point shooting at a crazy 53.6 percent clip. He shoots 51.5 percent from the floor and 92 percent from the foul line. Plus, according to Basketball Reference, Korver shoots 68.8 percent from long range in fourth quarters and overtimes this season. Theres another formula calculated by Basketball Reference that shows Korver is the best clutch shooter in the league based on percentages in fourth quarters and overtime, not just from 3-point range. If he keeps his current pace, hell join Steve Kerr as the only players in league history to shoot over 50 percent from the floor, 50 percent from beyond the arc and 90 percent from the free-throw line. And Kerr did it in role-player bench minutes while Korver is a starter. There are great backcourt candidates in the Eastern Conference outside presumptive starters John Wall and Dwyane Wade. Korver wont crack the reserve list, but he deserves a serious debate. EASTERN CONFERENCE NO CHANCE FRONTCOURT NIKOLA VUCEVIC, Orlando Magic; ANDRE DRUMMOND, Detroit Pistons; KEVIN LOVE, Cleveland Cavaliers Full disclosure - I think Vucevic is the closest player on this list to making the real version. Hes averaging 18.8 ppg and 11 rebounds, which is eighth- best in the NBA. Vucevics 24 double-doubles this season tie him for the league lead. The Eastern Conference doesnt have great choices in the reserve frontcourt situation. Vucevic could crack that group, but he probably wont since the Magic are slightly less than average. At some point, the NBA should start rewarding players with great numbers like this and avoid selecting the same, boring crop. (Oddly enough, this season I have a member of the old boring crop as one of my reserves.) The Detroit Pistons are surging and only 1 1/2 games out of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Greg Monroe has been playing well. Brandon Jennings has been a revelation. But, Drummond has been consistently stout all season. Hes second in the league in rebounding, 10th in blocked shots, first in offensive rebounding percentage, sixth in defensive rating and eighth in defensive win shares. Drummond is one of the best defensive big men in the league. Hes in the middle of a renaissance in the Motor City. Love brings about a very fascinating discussion. The Cavs have underachieved considerably, despite their winning streak of late. LeBron James is going to start. Maybe the point guard is going, too. Do the Cavs warrant three choices? If the Hawks, who are 12 games ahead of Cleveland in the standings, only get two All-Stars, how can Love make this team? Politics at its finest, but Love is statistically in decline. Numbers-wise, Love is having a very good campaign, just not as great as other seasons he went to the All-Star game. Loves averaging 17.6 ppg and 10.4 rpg. Both his 3-point and field-goal shooting are down, but there arent many averaging a double-double and Love is one of them. For example, Loves numbers dominate Al Horfords. Yet, Horford is probably going to New York because of where the Hawks are in the standings. Personal numbers vs. team success. That philosophical battle always rears its ugly head around this time. EASTERN CONFERENCE NO CHANCE WILD CARDS BRANDON KNIGHT, Milwaukee Bucks; BRADLEY BEAL, Washington Wizards The Milwaukee Bucks are the sixth seed right now in the Eastern Conference. They have a winning record and no one really near All-Star contention. Knight is their leading scorer and best player. He has won them games late, and deserves to hear his name mentioned a little in the possibility of making the team. He wont. But, Knight is a No Chance All-Star. Beal is fourth in 3-point shooting and has emerged as a potential elite two guard. He and Wall could become the best backcourt in the league. This pick, however, was not easy. There really isnt anyone left in the Eastern Conference. Toronto and Washington will each have one representative and that seemed low based on the standings. I took the best available player from either team. DeMar DeRozan missed too many games. Marcin Gortat got a look, but in the end, Beal is the final wild card because there are simply not enough All-Star-caliber players in the Eastern Conference. JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- Edoardo Molinari was in a four-way tie for the first-round lead at the European Tours Joburg Open with his 7-under-par 64 on Thursday. The Italian, chasing a British Open place as well as his first title in four years, was joined by Scottish pair Alastair Forsyth and Craig Lee and South African Justin Walters. A 2010 Ryder Cup winner, Molinari opened with three straight birdies at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington and collected eight in all on the par-71 West Course. "The front nine was probably as good as Ive played in a long time," he said. Lee had maybe the most impressive start with his 7-under 65 on the tougher par-72 East Course, with eight birdies and just one bogey on No. 17. "Its really hard to figure out where you are in the field with two golf courses, and with the East being slightly tougher I feel like Im in a good position," Lee said. Forsyth and Walters both carded 64s on the West, with Forsyth not dropping a shot all day. They led by one shot. Players play one round on the East and West courses before finishing on the East over the weekend. The tournament is also a qualifying event for the British Open in July and offers places to the three highest-placed finishers in the top 10 not already exempt. None of the top 10 on Thursday have qualified for the Open. Johannesburg defending champion Richard Sterne opened with a 5-under 67 on the East, but couldnt fully capitalize on an eagle three on his first hole, as he sat in a tie for 13th. Sterne has qualified for the British Open, as has former Masters champion Charl Schwartzel, who managed a 69 on the East. Molinari has battled through fitness problems since his 2010 Ryder Cup debut and hasnt won since that year, but looked solid with five birdies and a single dropped shot on his opening nine. He made another three birdies coming in. Chasing the leading pack are eight players on 6 under, including South Africas Hennie Otto, who tied for second in the season-opening South African Open in November. South Koreas Jin Jeong, who won his maiden tour title at the Perth International last year, is also in contention after a 65. The Joburg Open is the sixth tournament out of 10 on the early European Tour schedule to be played in South Africa. There will be a seventh next weekend with the Africa Open. JJ Redick Jersey . PETERSBURG, Fla. Moses Malone Jersey . - First-timer Chris Harris Jr.ATHENS, Ga. -- So much for Aaron Murrays reputation as a quarterback who cant win the big game. The senior took care of that with one of the best performances of his career. Murray threw for 309 yards and four touchdowns, Georgias beleaguered defence finally came up with a stop, and the 11th-ranked Bulldogs defeated No. 6 South Carolina 41-30 on Saturday for an early edge in the Southeastern Conference East. Coming off a 38-35 loss at Clemson, Georgia could not afford another defeat if it wanted to remain a serious contender for a national title. Murray capped his stellar day for the Bulldogs (1-1, 1-0 SEC) by slipping away from South Carolina star Jadeveon Clowney and connecting with Justin Scott-Wesley on an 85-yard touchdown pass with 13 minutes remaining. "It was a lot of fun," said Murray, who came in with a 1-6 record against Top 10 opponents. "Its definitely up there." The defence made sure it stood up, stuffing Mike Davis on fourth-and-goal from inside the 1. Murray and the offence took it from there, running off the remaining 8:28. "That was by far my favourite part of the game," coach Mark Richt said of the final possession. Davis led the Gamecocks (1-1, 0-1) with 149 yards rushing. Connor Shaw passed for 228 yards and two touchdowns, ran for 75 yards, but also lost a crucial fumble in the third quarter in Georgia territory. That said, this loss was on the Clowney and the defence. They simply couldnt stop Murray. "Aaron played a pretty good game," said Clowney, who had a lacklustre opening game and was largely shut down again, held to three tackles and one sack. "He threw it quick and ran it away from me the whole game." Georgia snapped a three-year losing streak against the Gamecocks, seizing control of the SEC East though South Carolina still has a chance to get back in the race, thanks to a more favourable schedule. In fact, the Bulldogs won the division the last two years despite losing to their neighbouring rival. Todd Gurley had another huge day for the Bulldogs on the ground, rushing for 136 yards on 30 bruising carries and scoring two touchdowns. His first came on a 2-yard run in a wild first half, which ended with the teams tied at 24. Then, in the final seconds of the third quarter, he hauled in an 8-yard TD pass from Murray to give Georgia a 34-24 lead, running the wrong route but getting open when Murray motioned him where to go. Davis ended the third with a 75-yard run down the sideline, and scored on a 3-yard run early in the fourth to make it 34-30. South Carolina missed the extra point. With Georgia faciing third-and-13 from its own 15, offensive co-ordinator Mike Bobo sent in a play the team had not worked on all week.dddddddddddd "That wasnt in the playbook," Murray said. "I was like, I hope everyone knows what this play is." Murray scrambled away from Clowney with a bit of an assist from backup left tackle Mark Beard, who took over after Kenarious Gates went out with an ankle injury. Beard was beaten inside but gave Clowney enough of a shove to allow Murray to sprint away. It was easy from there. Scott-Wesley was all alone behind the secondary, hauled in the pass and was gone, the Gamecocks having no chance of chasing down a state high school track champion. "I think today I showed Im a wide receiver first," Scott-Wesley said with a smile. The Gamecocks werent done. Davis nearly powered into the end zone before he was stopped a couple of inches short. South Carolina had to go for it on fourth down, and coach Steve Spurrier called a quick pitch to Davis out of the shotgun. Amarlo Herrara led a swarm of tacklers that stopped Davis short of the end zone and pushed him back. "I didnt even know it was fourth down," Herrara said. "I just heard everybody cheering and figured it was good." The teams combined for 990 yards -- Georgia had 536 -- in a game that sparked such passion, a couple of South Carolina coaches got into it with each other on the sideline early in the third quarter. They had to be pulled apart by another assistant. "It was pretty obvious that Georgia was the stronger of the two teams out there," Spurrier said. "They kicked our tails up and down the field." After South Carolina grabbed a 3-0 lead, the Gamecocks ran only three offensive plays in nearly 13 minutes. Murray threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Arthur Lynch, and Georgia caught the Gamecocks napping on the ensuing kickoff. Collin Barber dribbled an onside kick that was recovered easily by Blake Sailors. The Bulldogs drove from there for Patrick Beless 22-yard field goal. South Carolina went three-and-out, and Murray extended Georgias lead to 17-3 with a 6-yard touchdown pass to Keith Marshall swinging out of the backfield. The Gamecocks rallied. Brandon Wilds scored on a 7-yard run, and South Carolina tied it on the first of Shaw two touchdown passes to Nick Jones, an 18-yarder set up by Barbers fumbled snap on an attempted punt. The teams traded touchdowns in the final 1:42 of the half, Gurley powering in from the 2 and South Carolina evening the score again on Shaws 30-yard TD pass to Jones with just 13 seconds remaining. Even sat in the away dressing room, Manchester Uniteds players would not have been able to escape the sounds of West Hams celebrations. There, in the depths of the soon-to-be demolished Boleyn Ground, the visiting players were left to contemplate how they had let Champions League qualification slip from their grasp, as fireworks crackled outside.   With 14 minutes to play, Anthony Martial had given Manchester United a 2-1 lead. Victory would have moved Louis van Gaals side back into the top four for the first time since mid-December. They would only have needed to match Manchester Citys result at Swansea in their season finale at home to Bournemouth - a team who have only managed to beat rock-bottom Aston Villa in their past seven matches.   Yet, two expert deliveries from Dimitri Payet - combined with two clinically accurate headers from Michail Antonio and Winston Reid - turned the game on its head, and left Manchester United needing a favour from Francesco Guidolins Swansea on Sunday. Louis van Gaal still feels that it is possible for Manchester United to qualify for the Champions League Afterwards, Van Gaal conceded to Sky Sports the defeat was a mental blow to his players. As much as he argued Swanseas case and pointed out Champions League qualification was still possible, the Dutchman could not hide the opportunity missed. After a season of supporter unrest at his style, Van Gaal has often fallen back on key results, such as wins at rivals Manchester City and Liverpool. Now, he and his side are on course to miss their major target of the campaign.   Man City will be hungry. You dont give Sergio Aguero and his like another chance because they will lap it up. Jamie Redknapp I dont see it happening, said Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, when asked whether Swansea could shock Manuel Pellegrinis men and do United a favour. City will be hungry. You dont give the likes of Sergio Aguero another chance because they will lap it up.City have taken just five points from their last 12 available and their 2-2 draw with Arsenal on Sunday had provided Manchester United with a way back into the top four.Of course, seizing that opening was no easy task against a West Ham team and home support fired up by the occasion. A barrage of bottles as the Manchester United team bus made its way to the Boleyn signalled the visitors would not be in for an easy ride and, from the first whistle, West Ham had the top-four challengers pegged back. Anthony Martial had put the visitors 2-1 up in the second half Diafra Sakho struck after just 10 minutes and, after Antonios equaliser cancelled out Anthony Martials double, the hosts seemed to ride a wave of support to an historic victory. Manchester Uniteds problem was failing to match West Hams intensity.West Ham won every second ball. They wanted it more, said Redknapp. Van Gaal said this was a special place for West Ham tonight, but surely it was special for Man United today, too? They had an opportunity to get into the top four. They were just out-fought in every department.Manchester United must pick up the fight on Sunday and hope their neighbours City, who needed a late, late winner to see off Swansea at the Etihad in December, slip-up. There is no more they can do. Wayne Rooney and Manchester United will be hoping Manchester City slip up There has been debate as to whether a top-four finish and an FA Cup win could be seen as a positive season for Van Gaals United. With the first part of that double now in doubt, it heaps even more onus on the clubs Wembley date with Crystal Palace.Big results at big moments have boosted Van Gaal at key points of this season. A player confirmed to TSN on the condition of anonymity that he received his ballot yesterday. Another confirms hes been told to expect his shortly. "The unions executive committee insists a strike vote does not mean were pushing away from the table," the player said. "But we want the league to know were serious about our position." The players executive committee includes union president Scott Flory, vice-presidents Jay McNeil, Marwan Hage and Jeff Keeping and treasurer Brian Ramsay. Keeping (Toronto Argonauts) and Ramsay (Edmonton Eskimos) are the two active players on the committee. The league and players are still scheduled to meet in Toronto Wednesday - eight days before the current CBA is set to expire oon May 29 - when the players will table a new proposed collective bargaining agreement that will include a revenue sharing scheme with the union requesting a percentage of gate, sponsorship and television revenue.ddddddddddddWith each revenue stream the union is proposing its share be in the range of approximately 40-55 per cent. The proposal includes a salary cap of approximately $7 million in the first year of a new CBA. In 2013, the last year of the current agreement, the salary cap was $4.4 million. The league has so far been reluctant to discuss any revenue sharing model. "Weve been told to expect a step back tomorrow (from the owners)," the player says. The CFLPA requires more than 50 per cent of its players to confirm a strike vote. But the players must adhere to provincial labour laws, and cannot picket immediately. According to a source with knowledge of the talks, only players in certain provinces, where a strike vote can happen before the current bargaining expires, have received their ballots. NEW YORK -- Alfredo Simon making his first start in more than two years. Manny Parra stepping into the closers spot. Turns out, all the Cincinnati Reds needed for a win in New York was a little role reversal. Simon pitched seven impressive innings and began the go-ahead rally with his second career hit and Parra got the final six outs for his first career save, helping the Reds beat the Mets 2-1 Sunday to salvage a win in the three-game series. "At the end of the game I didnt even really know what to do," Parra said. "It was awesome." Joey Votto had a sacrifice fly and Ryan Ludwick a tiebreaking single off Jonathon Niese (0-1), who was making his first start of the season after a being slowed by shoulder and elbow injuries this spring. Simon (1-0) made 99 relief appearances for the Reds since his previous start, on Sept. 28, 2011, for Baltimore, but manager Bryan Price tapped the right-hander because Mat Latos is rehabbing from knee and elbow operations. Price said Simon is one of the most durable guys on the staff and had no problem letting him go deep into the game. He lifted Simon for the left-handed Parra to start the eighth after allowing just four hits and throwing 79 pitches. "I was thinking I was a starter before and this is a good opportunity for me, and I tried to show the best I can," Simon said after his 20th career start. "Everything worked." Parra made 74 starts for the Brewers before switching to relief work in 2010. He retired all six batters he faced, pitching the ninth instead of J.J. Hoover, who gave up Ike Davis walkoff grand slam Saturday. Parra struck out Davis to end the Reds second win of the season then stood atop the mound for a moment before pounding his glove and walking toward catcher Brayan Pena. "Cant ask for any more for Simon and Manny Parra," Price said. Niese was nearly as effective in his debut, allowing six hits and two runs in 5 2-3 innings in front of dozens of dogs at Citi Field on Bark in the Park day. "I feel good, felt like the ball was coming out of my hand pretty well, obviously didnt have any pain," Niese said. The Mets, though, wasted an opportunity to complete a sweep ahead of a nine-game road trip that begins in Atlanta on Tuesday. The Mets finished their first homestand of the season 2-4. Simon took the mound in a game for the first time since March 24 but there was little rust. After an easy first for Simon, Davis slashed a sharp one-out grounder the opposite way down the third base line, a spot vacated by the pull shift, for a double. Davis scored on Juan Lagares single for a 1-0 lead. An inning later, Simon walked Niese and Eric Young Jr. doubled to left-centre with one out. But Daniel Murphy and David Wright struck out, starting a run of 10 in a row that ended when Simon hit Wright with a pitch. Simon started the Reds go-ahead rally in the sixth by lacing a line drive over Murphys head. Chris Heisey, in the lineup for Billy Hamilton, who has a jammed left middle finger, and Brandon Phillips each singled to load the bases. Votto followed with a sacrifice fly and Ludwick the tiebreaking hit, a single to left for a 2-1 lead. "The way he kept his sinker down and the fact he got a base hit, it was very exciting," Pena said of Simon. "He got us going." Jay Bruce grounded to first base, ending Nieses day on his 90th pitch. Gonzalez Germen relieved and pitched around Todd Frazier to face Zack Cosart with the bases loaded. Cosart grounded out to extend his hitless start to 0 for 18. Cosart then flew out to right field in the ninth. NOTES: Simon singled last season against Pittsburgh. ... Phillips has a hit in all 29 games hes played against the Mets in New York. ... MILWAUKEE -- Domonic Brown homered and had a two-run single and the Philadelphia Phillies rallied from a big early deficit to outlast the struggling Milwaukee Brewers 9-7 Tuesday night. After surrendering five runs in the first inning, the Phillies scored five in the second off Brewers starter Wily Peralta (9-6). Ben Revere drove in two runs with a ground-rule double and Chase Utley had a two-run single as Philadelphia sent 10 men to the plate. Koyie Hill contributed a run-scoring single. The first-place Brewers have dropped seven of eight games. Kyle Kendrick (4-8) picked up the victory for Philadelphia despite giving up 11 hits and seven earned runs over 5 2-3 innings. He walked two and struck out two. Four Phillies relievers combined to hold the Brewers scoreless over the final 3 1-3 innings. Jonathan Papelbon pitched a scoreless ninth inning to record his 21st save in 23 attempts. Mercedes say they are ready for the significant tension of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamiltons title-deciding Abu Dhabi showdown and hope the decider is settled by a fair fight. For the second time in three seasons, the all-Mercedes battle for the Drivers Championship comes down to a Duel in the Desert with Rosbergs 12-point advantage over Hamilton making him the clear title favourite.Hamilton on his unlikely title chances But while the wider focus will inevitably be on the two drivers performances on track in Abu Dhabi, Mercedes have promised to do their part in ensuring the title is not inadvertently settled by unreliability or team mistakes. This is the first time weve had a 21st race in any Formula 1 season and its fitting that such a record-breaking year should conclude with the Drivers Championship being fought right to the very end, said Paddy Lowe, Mercedes technical chief. Its great for fans of the sport. Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton go head to head in the Formula 1 World Championship decider from Abu Dhabi. Coverage starts Friday 8.45am, Sky Sports F1 Of course, it also means significant tension within our particular camp - but the team has shown itself highly adept at managing this type of situation over the past few years. We will approach this weekend as we would any other, with the primary objective of ensuring that the title is decided on track in a fair fight.Toto Wolff reiterated the contribution the team can make to the spectacle of the final race, and made it clear that either Rosberg or Hamilton would be a fully-deserving champion. As a group, we now have one very important final duty this season - to give Nico and Lewis the platform they need to battle it out to the flag, said Wolff. Both of them have been exceptional and either one would make a worthy champion. While Rosbergs title challenge was ultimately ended by unreliability in the first Duel in the Desert of 2014, Hamiltons championship defence this year has been affected by engine failures and the Briton admits he is faced with pretty impossible odds no matter what I do this weekend. However, having had experience of unexpected final-day turnarounds earlier in his career, Hamilton added: I cant and wont give up. You never know what might happen - however unlikely it may seem.Although he missed out on his first match point to clinch his maiden title in Brazil, Rosberg says he is relaxed about the challenge ahead in Abu Dhabi and does not see a reason to change his season-long mantra of taking one race at a time.Ive had a great week, relaxing and catching up with my family and friends, so I feel like Im in a good place. In Brazil, after the race, I was joking that I would still be taking things one race at a time. But, the more I think about it, the more thats actually not as crazy as it sounds. I have to treat this like any other race.Rosberg will win his first world title if he finishes anywhere on the podium in Sundays race.Dont miss the #DuelintheDesert live on Sky Sports as the F1 title race goes to the wire. Fabian Delph Jersey . "After consultation with the Team USA medical staff and officials, it was determined that he should return to Winnipeg as a precaution due to his previous injury history," Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said Wednesday in a statement.OTTAWA – It was in the middle of one of Jake Gardiners finest games of the year, the kind of error in judgment that drove the since-dismissed Randy Carlyle crazy. Toronto had just scored to trim a 3-0 deficit when Gardiner took the puck and rushed it up solo into the neutral zone. He had it picked off. And before Carlyles replacement behind the bench knew it, the Senators had a chance that could well have sealed the Leafs fate right then and there. Hes capable of doing a lot of dynamic things, said Peter Horachek shortly after a sixth straight loss and 14th in 17 games. In the middle of that, he can get caught doing those things. Sometimes hes kind of a wild card at times. No Leaf played more than Gardiner in the nations capital on Wednesday night in a 4-3 loss and no Leaf may be more interesting to watch in a second half thats become less about the playoffs and more about the direction of a murky future. Brendan Shanahan and his front office team have the remaining 34 games to evaluate Gardiner under the direction of a different head coach and determine whether he fits into their long-term picture or not. Whether because of his own inexperience or simple disconnect between player and coach, Gardiner never showed sustained growth under Carlyles direction. It was more stops, starts and sputtering in two-plus seasons – this after a rookie year under Ron Wilson that had the club feeling super optimistic about the prospect they plucked from Anaheim in the Francois Beauchemin/Joffrey Lupul swap. Wilson encouraged Gardiner to roam freely. Carlyle pulled those reigns back. The results under the former were mostly positive, the latter almost entirely negative. Its apparent Gardiner rarely felt secure under Carlyles watch. If I made a mistake with Randy, said Gardiner, shortly after the firing was announced, it was a bigger deal than it was with Ron. How much of his sputtering then was due to Carlyle and how much of it was tied to the wobbles typical of most young NHL defenders? These remaining games will aid in that determination process. Carlyle often espoused the belief that 300 NHL games were needed before a defenceman came into his own. By that margin, Gardiner still has a ways to go. Hes played in more than 200 to this point and its still not entirely clear what the Leafs have in him. He can be dynamic certainly – no better example than the 2013 playoffs – but also inconsistent with troubling decision-making skills. In late December – with Carlyle still at the helm – the club opted to lighten Gardiners burden some, bumping him out of the top-four and onto an increasingly sheltered third pairing. The adjustment proved mostly positive in the weeks that followed, Gardiners possession numbers skyrocketing. And though he led the Leafs with a season-high of more than 25 minutes against Ottawa – this time paired with Morgan Rielly – Horachek and Torontos coaching staff did their best to keep Gardiner in situations where he might find success; he started more than 70 percent of his shifts in the offensive zone. Its nights like this that would probably cause the Leafs to think twice about ever parting with their young and often flummoxing defenceman. Active and engaged, Gardiner changed the game with his legs against the Senators, chipping in with two assists in what was a noticeable night for mostly the right reasons. Gardiner remains an unknown commodity at this stage in his fourth NHL season though and that creates questions about his future in Toronto. The Leafs swung for his upside last summer, signing the former first round pick to a five-year deal with an annual cap-hit of more than $4 million. It was a bet on potential, one that hasnt been rewarded through the first half this season. Not only had Gardiner dropped to the third pair recently amid obvious struggles with more responsibility, but hed amassed just nine points and a mere two goals in the 44 games before Wednesday (albeit with some unluckiness). The Leafs arent getting a lot in the way of value from their long-term contracts and right now Gardiner is square in that mix. In question for Leafs brass is whether that will change sometime soon or whether theyre best to move him elsewhere when he still reeks of potential, that potential on display again on this night. The situation is further complicated by the potential issues Toronto faces with the cap next season. At the moment – and trades are obviously a distinct possibility in the weeks and months ahead – the Leafs project to have limited cap space for the 2015-16 season with Jonathan Bernier, Nazem Kadri and Cody Franson all still to be signed. Clearing out some space will take either a big and difficult move – say Dion Phaneuf or Phil Kessel – or a couple less big moves, such as a Tyler Bozak, Joffrey Lupul and perhaps, Gardiner. Its easier to move Bozak and Lupul though, given that both are known commodities at this stage in their NHL careers. Gardiner, on the other hand, is like a stock that may well rise in time. Moving him at this point would be selling low on an asset, always a risky proposition in pro sports. The risk in that respect is obvious. Theres a chance the Leafs give up on Gardiner too soon and he goes on to success elsewhere; sort of how James van Riemsdyk thrived in different settings with the Leafs (also on a similar upside-betting contract), though that appeared more about opportunity in Toronto than anything else. Beyond just the question of Gardiner is what the Leafs want to do with their defence in general for next year and beyond. Five defenders are under contract next season, not including Franson, whos risen to a role on the top pair and will be up for a considerable raise as an impending unrestricted free agent. The club also has Stuart Percy, Viktor Loov, and Tom Nilsson among others, soon to be pushing for more opportunity. The blueprint for that defence needs to be ironed out not just next year, but two, three and four years down the road. Those questions go beyond just Gardiner and into Phaneuf and Franson sppecifically this summer.dddddddddddd More nights like Wednesday, though, will quiet any questions about Gardiner – at least for the time being. Five Points 1. First Periods Horachek was concerned with the way his team was starting even before another dud of a first period on Wednesday night. He was more perturbed and frustrated afterward. Ottawa, who played the night before, scored three times in the first frame, including a marker in the final minute of the period. I scratch my head when I talk about that first period again, Horachek said afterward. That was totally done by ourselves, to ourselves by a team that played last night. Its a strange situation. Weve got to correct that for sure. Mike Hoffman beat James Reimer on the Senators first shot of the game; Erik Karlsson later capped a three-on-one rush; and Mika Zibanejad eluded a pair of Leafs with a delayed penalty looming for the third goal in 20 minutes. Toronto outshot (31-14) and outplayed Ottawa over the final 40 minutes, coming within a goal, but they could never get past another futile start. We get behind early and its really killing us, said Gardiner afterward. We competed hard the last two periods and tried to come back, but it wasnt enough. We need to show more of that urgency in the first period. The Leafs have been outscored 10-1 in their past six first periods and are tied with the Oilers for the most first period goals allowed this season (47). 2. First Periods II This was a real point of frustration for Horachek following his seventh loss in eight games behind the bench. He told his team as much afterward. We put it on ourselves. We did everything that we didnt want to do in the first period, said Horachek after the Leafs 16th road loss this season (7-13-3). I told them that the first periods are unacceptable. If we decide that were going to become a better team, we have to learn play 60-minute hockey, we have to learn to be mentally tougher and play a whole game. We cant play like this and expect that were going to be getting better and moving up the ladder. You have to look yourself in the mirror and decide if this is the way we want to be. If you want to be a better team, you have to start working from the beginning of the game til the end of the game and make it hard to play against. 3. Gardiner/Staios One thing thats helped Gardiner since the coaching change is video work with new Leafs assistant Steve Staios. The two watch clips of his performance after every other game. Its good just to get that reinforcement, Gardiner says. Among the targets for improvement is for Gardiner to use his teammates a little more. Sometimes Ill hold onto it a little too long in the neutral zone when Im bringing it up, Gardiner said. Weve been working on gaps a lot too, just seeing a good gap versus a poor gap. Thats been really helping. Added Horachek: The puck moves a lot faster than you can skate and youve got to be able to move the puck and then skate to areas and get it back. You have to play more of that kind of game rather trying to carry the puck up the ice. 4. Missed Opportunity Injuries to Joffrey Lupul, Peter Holland and Leo Komarov afforded opportunities recently to a handful of Leafs, Richard Panik among them. Paniks ice-time had nearly doubled in January coming into Wednesdays game, from less than eight minutes per game in December to nearly 14 this month. But that bump hasnt been followed by a spike in production. The 23-year-old doesnt have a point in the past 10 games, has fired just 16 shots on goal and was ultimately benched in the third period against Ottawa. He played just a single shift in the final 20 minutes. Lupul, Holland and Komarov are all due to return after the All-Star break meaning a return to fourth line duties could be on the horizon for the former second round pick. 5. New Style Once all too lucky, the Leafs have been bitten, conversely, by some bad luck since Horachek took charge in early January – scoring just nine goals in his first seven games behind the bench. In fact, theres a case to be made that the Leafs were the leagues unluckiest team in the two-week stretch that preceded Wednesday nights game. Their PDO of 92.4 since the first week of January was the lowest in the league and loads below the league-high mark of 108 they managed during that 10-1-1 mirage. Beyond just luck though, James van Riemsdyk also thought the scoring dip was tied to the adjustment of the newly sustainable brand Horachek was pushing. Obviously were playing a little bit different of a style now so you have to maybe account for that a little bit, he said. Horachek didnt think the challenge it presented was all that insurmountable. Its just work, said Horachek before the most recent loss. Its not reinventing the whole world. When youre asking your guys to work harder in their own end and youre asking your guys to work harder on the back pressure and to be putting teams in a position where you have five guys in every area so its harder to play against and youre not giving up chances where you shouldnt have; all that is is work. Its part of the game for the last 50 years. Its about work ethic. We have to work. Stats Pack 10-1 – Margin by which the Leafs have been outscored in their last six first periods. 13-28 – Scoring differential for the Leafs under Peter Horachek. 17 – Consecutive games without an even-strength goal for Phil Kessel. 25:18 – Ice-time for Jake Gardiner against the Senators. 14 games – Goal drought ended by David Clarkson Wednesday.
